Exam and audition accompaniment

All string, woodwind and brass players, as well as singers, need a pianist to accompany them in music grade exams, and to rehearse beforehand.

I am happy to do this. As a freelance musician and experienced accompanist, I charge a fee, as detailed below, payable in advance, for this service. This would cover pre-exam rehearsal(s) and the exam itself.

Exam Accompaniment Fees

  • Grades 1 - 4 - Fee £15
one rehearsal of 20 minutes + the exam (including a run-through at the venue if there is a piano there, and time allows)
  • Grades 5 and 6 - Fee £20
two rehearsals of 20 minutes each + the exam (including a run-through at the venue if there is a rehearsal piano there, and time allows) You would need to supply me with a copy of the piano part at least one week before the first rehearsal (for singers this would be in addition to your own copy).
  • Grades 7 and 8 - Fee £25
two rehearsals of 30 minutes + the exam (including a run-through at the venue if there is a rehearsal piano there, and time allows) You would need to supply me with a copy of the piano part at least one week before the first rehearsal (for singers this would be in addition to your own copy).
  • Aural Test Practice (usually higher grades, but could be any) - Fee £15
30 minutes (sometimes instrumental teachers are reluctant to administer practice aural tests for the higher grades, because of the advanced keyboard skills which are needed to administer them).

N.B. These charges are for Stamford and Peterborough. If the exam is somewhere more distant, then I would need to make a charge for additional travelling time and petrol.
